As a student I had used a Ries for a Canham 4x5 and loved it. Mostly because of it's locking mechanism. After frustratingly using a Bogen for the last two years it's time for a new tripod. Today I have a Hasselblad H1 with a Mamiya Leaf Aptus II and an Induro PHQ1 Head. I shoot products in my studio and in the field. Quite a bit of macro. I cannot decide between the H100 or the H100-2. With my camera, lens, back and accessories my weight comes in around 12 pounds. It looks like the only difference is the size of the legs. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do I really need the bigger legs? Is the three extra pounds worth it?

Considering the weight, the H100 is more than sufficient for the gear you have described. Keep in mind, the maximum weight does not include the weight of the head, only the camera. Ries tries to be conservative in the weights posted.
