Ries Tripods are hand crafted in our state of the art factory in Bremerton, WA, USA.  All of the wood to make a Ries  tripod is sustainable plantation raised.  Our tripods are specifically made from “tone woods” or AKA; “tonewoods”, (look it up).

All of our tripods are sealed and are for use in all weather conditions.

Again, all weather conditions!

Rain, sleet and snow really bore us.  We like saltwater, deserts, jungles and arctic conditions.

In the desert a wooden tripod will not burn you hand when touched.  In the antarctic a Ries Tripod will not freeze your hands while handling it.

Reis tripod legs can be locked into any position.  There are no pre-selected stops.

A wood tripod may have better vibration dampening characteristics compared to other materials, such as aluminum or carbon fiber, due to the inherent properties of wood. Wood is a naturally elastic material, which means it is able to absorb and dissipate energy when subjected to stress or strain. This property can help to reduce vibrations and stabilize the tripod, making it more suitable for use in environments where there may be movement or vibration.

In addition, the grain structure of wood is inherently stronger and more stable than some other materials, which can also contribute to its vibration dampening properties. The way the grain is oriented and the type of wood used can also affect the vibration dampening characteristics of the tripod.

Overall, wood tripods may offer a more stable and vibration-free platform for cameras and other equipment compared to other materials, making them a popular choice for photographers and videographers who need to capture sharp and clear images and video.
